After two successful years of the Cabernet Franc Carnival, presented by Avontuur Estate, fans of unusual varietals in Gauteng will also get the chance to experience this grape at the first Carnival in Gauteng this year.
On Saturday, 20 May 2017 from 11h00-17h00, the event will take place again at Avontuur Estate between Stellenbosch and Somerset West. On Friday, 2 June from 17h00-21h00, winemakers and their wines will be at Wanderers Club in Johannesburg to show off their wines.
At both events, visitors can taste and buy the wines directly from the wineries.
At Avontuur visitors can book for one of three tutored tastings of the Top 6 wines in the 2017 Cab Franc Challenge, presented by head of the judging panel and Cape Wine Master Christine Rudman. Tickets costs R75 pp extra and only three sessions of 20 persons each, can be accommodated.
At both events, the very popular public “vote” to choose the favourite wine of the day, will once again take place which will give an interesting perspective on the differences between expert and amateur palates.
“Tickets are limited which ensures a quality experience. Visitors are welcome to socialise at one of the food venues, listen to music and enjoy the one-on-one interaction with winemakers,” says organisor Cobie van Oort of CVO Marketing.
Tickets are R200 pp which includes the tastings, a R50 discount coupon to spend on food and a tasting glass. Ticket sales open on 1 March 2017 via www.plankton.mobi or www.computicket.co.za as well as at Computicket branches.
